Pretty Good Solitaire Review: Much More Than Pretty Good

Pretty Good Solitaire is a collection of 610 solitaire games you can play on your Windows PC. Pretty Good Solitaire is also responsible for changing my opinion of computerized solitaire games.

I used to be such a solitaire addict when I was a kid. I remember the pure joy of sitting on the floor, playing game after game of solitaire. My absolute favorite was "Gaps." I loved the logic, and tracing out all the possible pathways before making a move.

But I really didn't enjoy playing solitaire on the computer. My eyes got tired from looking at the graphics on the screen. The eye-and-nerve strain diminished the joy from playing. After all, solitaire - more than any other game - is something you want to play again and again. But it just wasn't the same.

Pretty Good Solitaire completely won me over, and changed my opinion of computer solitaire games. The graphics are gorgeous, and instead of just occupying a small box on my screen, it fills it all the way up! Being a history buff, I particularly love the Patriot card set. I enjoy seeing my hero (Ben Franklin) on the screen and a lot of other historical characters too.

Someone asked me the other day, "Why would I buy a solitaire game, when several solitaire games already come free with Windows?" The answer is "Obviously you haven't played Pretty Good Solitaire!" There is simply no comparison between Pretty Good Solitaire and the free Windows games. Pretty Good Solitaire's 24 bit graphics completely fill your screen, and are far superior to the glaring, low-resolution graphics that typically come with "free" Windows versions. The larger high resolution graphics are easy on my eyes, and the sounds are great too. All in all, the enjoyment factor is way up there.

Yes, you get a few solitaire games with Windows, but Pretty Good Solitaire has over six hundred different solitaire games. Six hundred and ten, to be exact!! My favorite solitaire game, Gaps, doesn't come with Windows anyway. And I get a chance to play lots of new solitaire versions that I've never tried before.

If you have children, then they will enjoy the special Kids Card Set that comes with Pretty Good Solitaire. You can change the decks to special holiday card sets, like Christmas, Halloween, or St Patrick's Day.

Pretty Good Solitaire is so loaded with great features, I can hardly believe that it sells for such a low price. Pretty Good Solitaire will probably be one of the best buys of your life, if you purchase it. You can't buy that much fun in a computer game anywhere else that I know of. What is amazing to me is that this great collection is the creation of just one man: Thomas Warfield.

Just click the rules button anytime you want to try a new game, and you'll learn in in no time at all. When reviewing Pretty Good Solitaire, I learned about 10 new games in one hour! You can review statistics, save your high scores, submit them to the web too.

People love solitaire. Yesterday I was talking with someone about computer games, and his eyes lit up when he talked about how much he enjoyed playing FreeCell. Treat yourself and your family to a new experience. You'll enjoy Pretty Good Solitaire's beautiful graphics, and have hours of fun playing games like FreeCell, Klondike, Spider and many many more. The price is definitely affordable, and it makes a good gift too!

I can sit and play Tom Warfield's Pretty Good Solitaire for hours on end. I really love it, and I think you will too.
